Winter 2008/2009 U8 Youth Soccer Academy

Purpose: To develop a group of current U8 players who are prepared for the challenge of playing Travel Soccer in the Spring of 2009 at the U9 level.

 

§         The Academy bridges the gap between the Intramural Program and the Travel Program

§         The focus of the Panthers USA Intramural Program is to introduce players to the beautiful game in a fun and safe environment.  This stage is called “The FUNdamental Stage”

§         The purpose of the Academy program is take players to the next step of the developmental process, “Learning to Train”

§         While players are still expected to have fun, they are expected to attend regularly and be prepared to learn and do their best each session

§         After completing the Academy, each player will have the tools and experience necessary to take the next step in their development, “Training To Train” with their Spring 2009 Travel Team

 

Training: Will be focused on skills development in the areas of passing, dribbling, finishing, heading, goalkeeping and controlling the ball – The fundamentals of Soccer. These skills will be developed using the Coerver Methods of Soccer Coaching.

 

Dates: The Academy program will be held on Saturday evenings beginning December 13th.  Two separate sessions will be held, separated by age and/or ability.  The first session will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 and the second from 7:00 – 8:00.  All training will be held at new Indoor Soccer area at Yorktowne Fitness Center.

 

Ages: The Panthers USA Youth Academy is open to all current U8 players.  Exceptions may be allowed at the discretion of the Director of Coaching.

 

Academy Staff: All Academy Trainers and Coaches are experienced individuals, possessing both Coaching Certifications/Licenses and years of experience with coaching travel teams.

 

Cost: $75 for the 12 week program and includes a Panthers USA Academy Training Shirt.
